This presentation analyses the optimal treatment strategy for patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD) and reduced ejection fraction. Sara Corradetti discusses findings from major trials like STICHES and REVIVED-BCIS2 comparing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
She introduces hybrid coronary revascularization, combining minimally invasive left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to left anterior descending (LAD) artery bypass with PCI for non-LAD vessels, as a potentially valid alternative. A retrospective study comparing hybrid revascularisation versus conventional CABG in patients with ejection fraction below 50% found similar mid-term survival and perioperative outcomes but higher repeat revascularisation rates in the hybrid group.
