ESC Congress 2025: Who does what?
As a leading voice in novel therapies in acute heart failure and shock, Alexandre Mebazaa will join multiple sessions of the ESC Congress 2025 focused on chronic heart failure, cardiogenic shock and guideline-directed medical therapy GDMT.
- 29 August – 11:00 – Great Debate: first line management for cardiogenic shock. A session aiming to showcase how to optimise the use of drugs and devices in the management of patients with cardiogenic shock.
- 30 August – 08:15 – Tips and tricks for guideline-directed medical therapy implementation after heart failure hospitalisation. This session will teach how to implement GDMT effectively by empowering patients and using administrative tools.
- 1 September – 08:15 – Great Debates: controversies in the management of cardiogenic shock in acute coronary syndromes. The aim of this session is to discuss controversies regarding patient selection in acute coronary syndromes for MCS and allocation in shock centers, as well as economic and geographical challenges.
Giuseppe Rosano will take part in a symposium dedicated to chronic coronary artery disease and syndromes. He will introduce this session and participate in the roundtable on the value of combination therapy in managing chronic myocardial ischemia, offering insights into the evolving clinical needs and the latest treatment approaches.
- 31 August – 10:00 - Optimising chronic myocardial ischemic syndromes management: the strength of combination therapy
With expertise in interventional cardiology and coronary physiology and interventions, Emanuele Barbato will contribute to the ESC Congress 2025 by presenting top papers of 2025 in interventional cardiology and discussing a poster on the treatment of aortic stenosis from the “New perspectives in cardiology” poster session.
- 30 August – 11:00 - Top 10 Papers 2025 in prevention, ischaemic heart disease, and interventional cardiology
- 31 August - 12:30 – New perspectives in cardiology (Poster session) - Treatment of aortic stenosis and TAVI
Christophe Leclercq, a key figure in device therapy and cardiac resynchronisation, will be particularly active this year, participating in sessions on cardiac resynchronisation therapy, atrial fibrillation and innovation in cardiology.
- 31 August – 08:15 - Great Debates: conduction system pacing - have we found the Holy Grail of physiological pacing? This discussion aims to highlight pros and cons of emerging approaches for pacing therapies compared to traditional ones, specifically for the treatment of bradyarrhythmias and heart failure.
- 1 September – 10:00 - Multi-point pacing (MPP) in cardiac resynchronisation therapy non-responders. This tutorial session will provide guidance on optimising CRT programming to increase responder rate and offers strategies to address non-responders, optimise patient selection, and explore alternative therapy options.
- 1 September – 13:45 - Consumer-operated devices in the management of atrial fibrillation. The objective of this session is to discuss the role of wearables for detecting atrial fibrillation and making relevant treatment decisions, with a focus on the patient view.
Our transdisciplinary team member Amina Rakisheva, a recognized expert in heart failure management, will participate in several session covering key topics such as acute heart failure, multidisciplinary interventions and public health.
- 30 August – 09:15 - Focus on global health - Heart failure management in challenging settings and populations: does one size fit all? An insightful session addressing the complexities of global health, risk stratification, and prevention.
- 30 August – 10:45 - Challenges in heart failure: advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, mechanical circulatory support, and transplantation. A session built around challenging clinical cases.
- 30 August – 17:30 - Breaking the cycle of congestion in heart failure. This symposium is dedicated to optimising medications to accelerate decongestion, assessing congestion severity with new devices, and adhering to GDMT, with a special focus on the key role of nurses.
- 31 August – 12:30 – New perspectives in cardiology (Poster session) – Discussant – Acute heart failure: diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment
- 1 September - 13:15 - Heart failure in the real world (Moderated ePosters session)
