Session Formats and Room Concepts

The Improving Heart Function Annual Course will take place on March 20–21 in Madrid, and will focus on the comprehensive and transversal management of heart failure. Through a range of interactive sessions and expert-led discussions, the course offers a clinically grounded perspective on optimizing patient care and therapeutic strategies.

Two Rooms, Two Clinical Perspectives

To reflect the complexity of heart failure treatment, the course is structured around two complementary educational settings:

Main Room – Patient-Centred Approach

  • This room is focused on real-life patient care. Sessions are based on individual clinical cases and highlight the diagnostic process, therapeutic decisions, and multidisciplinary coordination required in daily practice.

Forum – Therapy-Centred Approach

  • In this space, the emphasis is on how to apply specific therapies—drugs, devices, or their combination—to improve patient outcomes. Sessions are structured around treatment algorithms and decision-making processes.

Together, these two rooms offer a transversal view of heart failure treatment, from complex clinical situations to focused therapeutic interventions.

Session Formats

Each session format is designed to support interaction, critical reflection, and practical learning.

Case-Based Discussion

Built around detailed presentations of individual patient cases, these sessions invite open discussion on diagnosis and treatment options. The objective is to reach a consensus on practical, widely applicable clinical insights.

How Should I Treat?

These sessions present challenging cases from the operator’s point of view. The audience is encouraged to think through the clinical steps and consider how they would treat the patient in their own context. This format promotes hands-on clinical reasoning and shared experience.

Drugs & Device Synergy Algorithm

Interactive and collaborative, these sessions guide participants through the construction of a therapeutic algorithm combining pharmacologic and device-based approaches. With the help of expert facilitators, the audience explores key decision points and treatment pathways.

This dual-room structure and diverse session design make the Improving Heart Function Annual Course a unique opportunity to explore the management of heart failure across both patient-level and therapy-level dimensions.
